Honoring Guru Nanak Dev Ji

Honoring Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
One of the rare masters,
who did not renounce the world before and after enlightenment.
Do you want to know more about him ?

The life of Guru Nanak Dev Ji (1469–1539) serves as a timeless roadmap for spiritual awakening and selfless living.

1. A Divine Arrival and Early Wisdom (1469)

Born in Talwandi (now Nankana Sahib), Nanak was a child of peace who showed extraordinary spiritual concern for others from an early age. At eighteen, his father gave him twenty rupees for business, but Nanak performed Sacha Sauda (The True Bargain) by spending the money to feed and clothe a group of starving people, teaching that no profit is greater than helping those in need.[5, 6, 7]

2. The Great Enlightenment (1499)

While working in Sultanpur Lodhi, Nanak plunged into the Kali Bein river for his morning bath and disappeared for three days. During this time, he experienced a direct communion with the Divine and emerged with a knowing of universal oneness (enlightenment).  His first words, "There is no Hindu, there is no Muslim," challenged religious divisions and invited all to recognize a single, shared humanity.

 3. The Call to Self-Realization

The core of his message is the invitation to recognize our internal divinity:

"O my mind, you are the embodiment of the Divine Light—recognize your own origin." (ਮਨ ਤੂ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਰੂਪੁ ਹੈ ਆਪਣਾ ਮੂਲੁ ਪਛਾਣੁ ॥).

Guru Nanak's Mool Mantra - Ek Onkar

Ik onkar, satnam, karta purakh, nirbhau,
Nir vair, aakaal murat, ajooni se bhang,
Gur parsaad. Jap.
Aad sach jugaad sach,
Hai bhi sach naanak hosi bhi sach.

There is only one God. His name is true.
He is the creator, He has no fear, He has no hate.
He is omnipresent, unborn and self-illuminating.
By the Guru's grace, He is realised. Meditate on His name.
He has been true since time began.
He has been true since the ages. He is still true.
Guru Nanak says he will forever be true!
